…Myran
Chautin
Arnaudville native Myran Chautin has owned and operated
Myran’s Maison de Manger for nearly 29 years. He has
been happily married for 28 years to Karen, and has
three boys: Justin, Andy, and Richie. Myran started
running 13 years ago with his younger brother Kenny.
After a few tortuous attempts, Myran tried to “hide
his new shoes in the closet and forget about them”.
But a few weeks later, Myran and Kenny did the Cajun
Cup and Myran has been hooked ever since. In his “spare”
time, Myran is the head cross country coach at Beau
Chêne High School and the race director for La Course
de Cajun 5K.
Q&A with Myran
What’s your favorite pre-race food?
I like to wake up early, drink coffee and eat a good
breakfast. My mom’s sweet potato cakes are loaded
with nitros!
What’s your favorite post-race food?
Red beans and rice with no sausage, and pizza.
Do you have any tips for recovering from an injury?
Back off, stop for two weeks or so, and while you’re
resting consider a new pair of shoes. Your old ones
may be the cause of your injury!
What’s your favorite brand of running shoes?
My favorite sneakers are the Brooks "Trance".
For my weight and age they really go the distance.
Do you do any cross-training?
I like to tag along with my wife Karen for a two mile
walk—and sometimes a little farther.
